GIS Training and Workshop Outline

This outline is tentative and may be altered depending on the needs of the participants.

The purpose of this training is to:

  • Provide a basic understanding on how to use GIS
  • Develop basic skills for using ArcGIS 10
  • Show how to find and use GIS data
  • Develop skills for creating your own data
  • Develop skills for creating printable maps
  • Provide an understanding of GIS technology trend
First Session (Day 1): 8:30am – 12:00 pm

Third Session (Day 2): Mapping your Own Data

Fourth Session (Day 2): Geocoding and Creating Your Own Data

  2. Adding images or registering images
  3. Digitizing your own data

Fifth Session (Day 3): Current GIS technology Overview with Google Maps/Earth & mobile phones

Sixth Session (Day 4): Mapping Projects and Review
